Hello! My name is Stephen Joseph. I am the President of our South Of The Alps (SOTA) Chapter 0113 of the U.S. Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA). It pleases me that you seek to learn about our association. "Our association" is the term we prefer to use. This is because the words "my" or "the" do not adequately express the true spirit with which we operate. Our association is made up of Army warrant officers (active and retired), perhaps much like yourself, who believe in the value of "service".
Many of us in the chapter are on active duty or standing ready with the National Guard or Army Reserve. Others served honorably in the past and retired from an Army Warrant Officer career. All however, no matter our status, are concerned about the future and show commitment to serve our Nation. As members of our association we also serve our DoD branch under the Warrant Officer Corps, our warrant officer families and the communities in which we live.
At the Congressional, Army and Department of Defense headquarters levels, this is done through our association's involvement in The Military Coalition. Our voice joins that of some 33 other military organizations representing 3.5 million members and seeking to support and preserve laws, funds, and policies which are fair and proper for America's service members, retirees, and their families. At the Army Headquarters and Department of Defense level however, our association is the ONLY professional organization which acts and speaks exclusively for Army warrant officers. Through a variety of approaches and timely actions we make our positions and concerns known to the senior leadership.
Here at the local "chapter" level, our association regularly involves itself in active service projects both on the installation and off. We fund scholarships and support worthy charities. We dedicate time and energy to humanitarian service. We serve as a backbone for each other and support each other in our cause for service and self-worth. |
